Riding the Tides of Change: Gender neutral skills that unite riders, whether they ride the waves or the streets
We wanted our brand to position skateboarding as a gender-neutral sport that showcases its athletic and competitive nature while celebrating its connection to surfing. It's not uncommon to find skateboards and surfboards to be sold in the same place, as both activities require balance, coordination, and a sense of flow.
Therefore, our brand identity aims to appeal to the female population by positioning skateboarding as a gender-neutral sport that emphasizes its competitive and athletic nature. We also wanted to differentiate it from surfing while acknowledging the fact that skateboarding has its roots in surfing. And to achieve that, we planned to create a visually abstract depiction of water.

In this project, we utilized three main software programs: TouchDesigner, Spark AR, and Blender.
TouchDesigner was employed for designing interactive graphic particles that respond to motion. TouchDesigner is a visual development platform that allows for real-time graphics and interactive experiences. It enabled us to create visually dynamic and interactive elements that responded to various inputs, such as motion sensors or user interactions. These graphic particles added a captivating visual component to our project, creating an engaging user experience.
Spark AR was utilized for creating an AR Instagram filter. Spark AR is a platform developed by Facebook that enables the creation of augmented reality (AR) effects for social media platforms. With Spark AR, we were able to design and implement a custom AR filter that could be used on Instagram, allowing users to interact with our project in a fun and immersive way through their mobile devices.
Blender, on the other hand, is a powerful 3D modeling and animation software. We used Blender to design and create our immersive environment, and to preview how it would look from different angles. Blender allowed us to create 3D models, textures, and lighting setups, giving us a realistic and dynamic representation of our environment. This helped us to refine the visual aesthetics and composition of our project, ensuring that it looked visually appealing and effective from various perspectives.
Overall, these three software programs were essential tools that played a significant role in our project, enabling us to create interactive graphics, AR filters, and visualize our immersive environment. They provided us with the necessary functionalities and capabilities to bring our creative vision to life and deliver a visually compelling and engaging project.
